Angel moment

Jesus Christ... I never cry for movies, EVER. But you put me infront of the Angel episode "Hero" and I'm crying like a pregnant woman watching Lifetime.

Okay so it's been a while

I just posted 5 seconds ago, but I thought I should make this a separate post. In short, life has been pretty much amazing. Like, so amazing, that the only thing that could make me happier would be finding out McDonalds' food has zero calories, Johnny Depp asking me out on a date, and all alcohol being free forever.... And MTV bringing back that cartoon "The Odyssey" and THEN putting the entire series on DVD. That would be so awesome.

But anyway, talking about everything would take forever so here it is:

Julie's Top 10 things that are good or awesome for Summer 2004
(no particular order)

1) My PO371 Class with Dagmar Kusa is the best class ever (see 2)
2) I am writing a show about Raphael Lemkin, hopefully to be performed the Spring of my senior year. Dagmar is so excited about this that she is going to try and help me get interviews with Elie Wiesel and Samantha Power.
3) I'm an aunt again. =o)
4) Writing a show with Jonathan, hopefully to be performed the Fall of our senior year.
5) I have joined Healthworks with Ashley and Kate in an effort to get a hot bod like my mom.
6) My 20th Birthday. Nuff said.
7) After two long years of being away I went back to NYC not only for a meeting at the UN with Joe Arthur, one of the main people working on the Milennium Goal Project, but to spend time with Aunt Helen and Uncle Dan. The weekend included Assassins (one of the best shows ever), Caroline or Change, The Met for Matisse and Ruhlmann, the Jewish Museum for a Modigliani exhibit, 3 amazing restaurants, one hot flirty waiter, two new outfits, one new matching purse, one pair matching shoes, a bunch of work-out clothes, new sunglasses (also matching) and some other goodies I bought myself.
8) The new Batman starring Christian Bale is coming out soon.
9) Reckless is being put back on Broadway in September starring Mary Louise Parker. (she was in Angels and Reckless. I was in Angels and directed Reckless. we're practically twins.)
10) I will only be poor for another month and then my finances next year will look something like this:

Anticipated costs for next year including paying off all current bills, trip to France, gym membership, and next summer's classes (with overestimation) = $9,844

Anticipated income for next year not counting holidays (with underestimation) = $11,312

Senior year will be even better because there won't be apartment bills and there won't be summer classes. Plus I'll have a raise from the Air Force.

Then, I'll have a job.

I will never have to ask anyone for money ever again. Total independence. Take that.

So there it is, my top 10. Top that off with amazing friends and fabulous family and you have got one happy person.

And the birthday just keeps going...

I want to turn 20 every day for the rest of my life.

Today in the mail I received 1 Kilo of rum-filled chocolate and 10 oz. of Austrian Rum from Patrick. I never thought that my 20th birthday would last almost a month. Seriously, what is up with this? But hey, I'm not complaining.

THANK YOU PATRICK!!!!!

HOW IS MY LIFE SO DAMN WONDERFUL!?!?!?!?

Okay, Kate hates when I say this, but I am 100% high on life right now.

First of all, tonight was absolutely amazing. Ben and his mother were in town for the night and we went out for a DELICIOUS dinner in the North End, walked around for a while, and then enjoyed some Mike's Pastry DELICIOUSNESS. I had never been to any of these places so I was in awe of just how happy my stomach could be. (Sidenote: Some old lady passed out while we were in the restaurant. Between the reaction of the staff and the ridiculously short amount of time it took the paramedics to get there I now feel that I could pass out anywhere at any time and be well taken care of.)

So after all of this excitement the three of us clamored into a cab and zoomed back to the Hotel Commonwealth which I highly recommend. We watched two episodes of Show Biz Mom's (and Dad's) which I also highly recommend for those of you (like Ben and I) who like to make fun of people. We almost couldn't keep up. Ben walked me down when I was leaving. The reason I mention this is because Ben was in his businessman type pajamas and hotel slippers while I had a slightly businessy looking outfit on and my leather briefcase. As the people over the counter give us looks when Ben slips cab money into my hand I whisper: "Do you realize I look like the secretary you are doing behind your wife's back?" Of course no one actually thought this but had we each looked ten years older, it would have. So after Ben's mom paying for my cab ride home, the biggest highlight of which is that I got to tip the adorable "cab-hailer" with the Canadian accent at the door, I go to my mailbox which tonight is not my dire enemy but MY BEST FRIEND. Inside is rent and grocery money from my mom (thanks mom! love you!) and the ANGEL SEASON ONE DVD SET from Stacey!! You are the most wonderful person EVER!!! Not only can I see David Boreanaz and Co. (of hotness) WHENEVER I want, I can also just gaze at the cover when I don't have time to watch a DVD. Wait, here it comes... EEEE!!! (a dwarf pony!... inside joke).

So just when I thought turning 20 couldn't get any more amazing than it had originally seemed not to be, I had an awesome birthday and LOOK AT MY LIST OF GIFTS!!!:

ANGEL season one DVD box set- Stacey
Lip Venom- Kunze
booze to keep me drunk on my b-day- Swansea crew
Awesome/Cute/Hilarious/Wonderful mixed CD- Kate
Dressed to Kill!!!!- Jordan (which is really funny because Evan gave me Circle right after we broke up. I'm inadvertently collecting Eddie Izzard DVD's through the cunning use of ex-boyfriends)
Swanky High-tech cell phone to replace ancient disco cell phone- Joyce & Dad
box of Easy Mac and Rice Krispy Treats- Jill
MONEY- Family
hilarious and nice shirt- Mom
lunch at the MFA- Steve

Other wonderful stuff is going on as well but I don't want to minimize it with all of this excitement so I'll leave it be tonight.

Dammit. I freaking love you all. Where did I find you and what did I do to deserve you? I am the luckiest person alive!

... EEEEEEE!!!!!

Best game of Asshole and Kings I have EVER played

I just want to remember this night because of its hilarious perversion. I can't remember who said what so I'm giving credit to both guys.

Laura: As third time president my rule is: Since Julie isn't driving home she has to drink every time someone else drinks.

Julie: 7's and 8's are boring. New rules.
Nick/Mike: 7 means you have to kiss a girl in the room.
Julie: Guys, I'm the only girl in the room.
N/M: We know.
Julie: What are 8's?
N/M: Take off a piece of clothing.
Julie: I'm only wearing 4 articles of clothing and there are 4 8's.
N/M: We know.

Mike: For every card Julie must shake her booty.

Julie: 3 to me.
N/M: No, look Julie, while you were in the bathroom the rules changed. 3 is now "Julie strips."
Nick: 10
Julie: Category
N/M: Nope, that's Julie strips!
Mike: King
N/M: Julie strips again!
Julie: (taking rule sheet) You guys crossed EVERYTHING out! What kind of insane rules are these?!
N/M: You know Julie, for so many cards played, you have way too much clothing on.

And then the "man I love you guys so much despite the fact that you are perverts because you're boosting my self-esteem when I need it most" moment of the night was:

"Everyone was second place to Julie."

I repeat, I love you guys. You rock.

Meet my Poli Sci class.

Lispy McGeezer and Creepy Tight-shorts think they know everything. The rest of us keep quiet. Apparently we think we know nothing. Druggie Redneck chimes in occasionally only to make himself look worse than his clothes. Creepy is enjoying himself. Smokey Chinagirl has gotten almost stereotypical in her dazing: her head is tilted back and it is obvious that trying to swallow her own tongue has beaten doodling or pretending to pay attention. Druggie strikes flamboyantly gay pose. Hysterical Factor added by oversized flannel shirt. No gay man would ever dress this poorly. Is he just readjusting himself? Possible. Steve Sound-Alike chimes in with intellectual sounding comment which I'm pretty sure means nothing. Here he goes again. Good vocabulary. AND a good point! Eureka! The little people are fighting back! I feel it's time for a revolution. I can't decide what we're supposed to be getting out of this lesson. I would contribute some greater means to a unified end and aid my fellow comrade, but instead I drink my tea. Sassy Black Girl continues to look sassy. Nice shirt. Now I shall call you Swanky Sassy Black Girl. Aaah! Druggie has a huge fake diamond stud in one ear and three gold rings in the other! Maybe he should talk to Swanky Sassy. Is it crazy ear day and no one told me? My teacher has a ring that looks like a cup of coffee on a saucer. Ohhhh... It's crazy JEWELRY day! Crap.. I've got nothing. Have they noticed? Am I outcasted? Maybe I can turn my Arizona iced tea bottle into some sort of nipple ornamentation. No, that just insane. Oh well, it's probably too late anyway. Ooh! I have something to contribute to discussion! Steve and I are ganging up on Creepy, and winning! REVOLUTION! You lose random thoughts.... for now.

Julies in the City

FVJules: We would have to add our own twists
JuJu202: like...
FVJules: Like a fire breathing monster
JuJu202: revealing that my middle nameis Ann, and that I could be considered a Julie-Ann and not a Julie

JuJu202: YES!!

JuJu202: Sex and the Library
FVJules: How have we not already been hired?
JuJu202: i have not the slightest clue

I am sooooooooo 20

Things I can do now that I'm 20:

1) When someone asks my age, I can say that I am 20.
2) I can tell myself that I am more of an adult than I once was.
3) I can wish that I was 21.
4) I can count down days and months to being 21 instead of years.
5) I can begin planning my 21st birthday.
6) I can be frustrated that I am so close to being 21 but not quite there.
7) I can easily figure out my age by using the year I was born in case I should ever forget.
8) I can make kids who just turned 10 and are excited about getting into double digits feel insignificant by telling them I am twice their age.
9) I can make 40 year olds feel even older by telling them I am half their age.
10) I can officially date people in their 20's without having age be an issue at all.
11) In a few months I can hand my ID to waitresses and hope they only look at the year.

See? And you thought 20 was a boring age. Pssh!

20th was a blast. For some reason I am lucky enough to have amazing birthdays no matter what the odds are. I went back to Swansea for the occasion. Friday night Joyce, Dad, Patty and I went to Kent's and had a huge meal. We all got a little tipsy. Next morning we had a huge brunch with my side of the family, Nana, Shayne and Shannon. Best part of the day was a three hour ride on the bike to Newport with dad. That has to be the most comfortable motorcycle in the world. So yeah, we went up to Newport and stopped to see this big kite flying event and to hang out by the ocean, then on the way back we stopped by George's in Fall River for some old fashioned root beer. Delicious! That was some of the best quality time I've ever had with the old man. This whole motorcycle thing is really bringing the family together. Shannon and I are getting our permits next week. So after the ride we went to Bruce and Shirley's for a clam boil which was fun and delicious. Got a head start on my drinking with about 6 beers. That night Boyce, Kirky and Patty came over for some hot tub fun and more drinking. Laura and Dave also stopped by. I love that no matter how long I go without talking to these people we always come together for my birthday. My ultimate gift was a new cell phone from Dad and Joyce, I can't stop playing with it despite the fact that I can't receive calls on it yet.

Best moment of the birthday hot tub party:

Julie: Okay, who do you wish you had slept with in high school. No restrcitions.
Mike: Julie.
Nick: Julie.
Patty: ....Julie.

Yay 20!
